Due diligence
A clear boundary. A forest-loss result addresses deforestation under Article 3(a). Legality under Article 3(b) still needs your documentary checks. You review and file the statement.

What the farm check covers
Give eudr.dev the boundary of a plot and it answers one question with signed satellite evidence: was there forest loss after 31 December 2020, the cut-off in Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. Then it prepares the Annex II Due Diligence Statement an operator files before placing goods on the EU market — and it never files anything on your behalf.
What it answers
- Was forest lost on this land. Plot boundaries, a commodity and a country of production return a verdict per plot, the years loss was observed, and how much of each polygon was actually inspected rather than assumed.
- What a supplier file is still missing. Article 9(1) is a closed list of eight items, (a) to (h). Supplier records are read against it field by field, and each gap comes back with its limb of the article and the request to send.
- What the statement should say. A compiled Annex II document, signed, exportable as TRACES NT submission XML, with the operator's own acceptance recorded against it.
What it does not answer
This answers Article 3(a), deforestation-free, which can be observed from orbit. It does not answer Article 3(b), legality in the country of production: land tenure, harvesting and environmental permits, free prior and informed consent, labour and tax compliance. Those are documentary checks the operator carries out and signs for, and every response here names them as unresolved rather than letting a clean forest-loss result read as a clean due-diligence file.
Buying, for any crop and any market
The EU check is one gate, and only for the seven commodities the Regulation lists. A buyer asks the same question of every lot: should we buy this, for which market, at what price.
- Farms are records, anywhere. A pin and a crop are enough to start. The field boundary is proposed from Fields of The World and kept only once a person accepts it. A banana farm in Solapur is told plainly that no EU deforestation check is needed.
- A visit form per crop. Cocoa is asked for a cut test, coffee for a float test or a screen grading, tea for its fine-plucking share, banana for its fingers. Each crop is a file, so adding one adds the form. Where a grade threshold belongs to a published standard it is left open with the standard named, because a threshold invented here would decide what a farmer is paid.
- Markets you own. A market names its crop, the standard that grades it, how the lot travels, where its price comes from, the currency it is paid in, and the law it must satisfy to be sold there. Whether the deforestation rules apply is derived — the commodity is in Annex I and the goods are bound for the Union, or they are not.
- Your own buying process. Who votes, which dimensions are judged, the quality spec, the price rule and the thresholds. Every version is kept. A legal block cannot be voted or overridden away; the organisation's own rules can be set aside by its manager, with a reason on the record.
- One chain from the lot to the statement. Buy a lot of a listed crop and the statement starts from it, carrying its plots and its kilograms; the statement names the lots it carries and each lot names the statements it is on.
How to check this without trusting us
Every statement is signed with ed25519 and addressed by its content, so a counterparty can confirm who issued those exact bytes and that nothing has changed since. The satellite measurements underneath are signed separately by emem, the Earth-memory protocol the evidence comes from, and eudr.dev also stands as an outside witness over emem's transparency log — a third key, kept apart from the one that signs statements.
A verdict carries the chain that produced it: which cells, which signed measurements, which algorithm against which pinned registries, and which key signed what. Verify a statement · Verify it offline, with no network · Read the methodology.
For agents and for code
The same engine answers over MCP and A2A, and the first call needs no key. Start at the docs.
eudr.dev is operated by Vortx AI Private Limited. It is independent of, and not endorsed by, the European Commission, and a verdict here is due-diligence tooling rather than a regulator's attestation. Scope and disclaimer.
